YOGA : LIFE-TIME AMBITION ACHIEVED IN THE USAMBARA MOUNTAINS

Who would believe that Maweni Farm which is nestled within the lovely Usambara Mountain, Soni, in Tanzania would be the spot where I would fulfill my lifelong ambition to try 'Yoga'.

Well it happened for me, an active, sporty 55year old lady and I would recommend it to males/females of any age group. Why I left it so long I do believe is because I have enjoyed playing squash, hockey and most sports and I was not sure that I would be able to feel relaxed and get 'connected' within a yoga class.

What helped was an excellent teacher, Kim Ellis-Josch, who focused on each individual's capabilities, weaknesses and worries. Our minds were already put at ease.

Her soft encouraging and informative voice, not to mention her gentle demonstration, into each movement, which breathed a loving spirit to the mind and body, was an enormous welcome to an amateur like myself.

What a wonderful surprise and one I hope to continue. Yoga – to yolk the mind……..it definitely enlightened my ignorant mind that yoga could connect with even the sportiest of people.

Unfortunately the weekend was far too short, having enjoyed lovely organic food, relaxing company and an educational start into the subject of 'Yoga' all the way over here in Tanzania!
