What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a holistic medical system, it takes a broad view of illness, the causes of disease and the way in which the individual expresses their illness.
As a holistic medicine it takes all aspects of the individual into consideration and seeks to cure the patient, not the disease.
  It is safe, gentle and effective and can be used to treat many illnesses and imbalances be they physical, mental or emotional.
  The remedies used are usually prepared from naturally occurring substances which go through a process of dilution and succession (vigorous shaking). Through this process of ‘potentisation’, any toxicity is removed and the dynamic healing power of the crude substance is stimulated.
  The appropriate remedy is selected for the individual using ‘the law of similars’.

The law of similars
The word ‘homeopathy’ is from the Greek: omio = same and pathos = suffering. Hippocrates (400 BC) was the first person in the western tradition to record the fact that a diseased person can be cured by substances which cause the body to develop similar symptoms.
  For example: we are familiar with the effects of coffee, coffee stimulates the system, sends the pulse racing and prevents sleep. When potentised into the homeopathic remedy Coffea, the same substance can be used to calm the insomniac who cannot sleep for excitement, his mind racing and over stimulated.
  The theory is that two similar states cannot co exist in the same body and that the homeopathic remedy ‘absorbs’ the symptoms of the sufferer.

What happens during homeopathic consultation?
A first homeopathic consultation can take up to one hour. During this time you will be asked many questions about your symptoms, your family background and medical history, your diet, sleep pattern, preferred environments etc.
  This information will be interpreted and matched to a remedy which would cause similar symptoms in an otherwise healthy person.
  Although you may only be given 2 or 3 remedies to take over a short period of time the action of the remedies is of long duration. The remedies work by resonance sending a strong signal to the body’s vital force which is in turn stimulated towards a greater state of health.
  Essentially, the homeopathic remedies stimulate the body to heal itself.
