by which the Rose and the Lily bloom.
Flowers attract lifeHumans and flowers have had a love affair since the beginning of time. We use flowers in many rites of passage, birth, marriage, worship, illness and death.
Dr Edward Bach is the name most commonly associated with flower essences. He developed his range of 38 flower essences in 1930’s England. Since then many others have explored the healing potential of flower essences and their power to act as a catalyst for inner growth.
Like homeopathic remedies, flower essences have their own subtle energy which impacts on the vitality of the individual. However, they do not operate on ‘the law of similars’ rather on ‘the law of contraries’. As Dr Bach said they, “ Flood our natures with the particular virtues we need, and wash out from us the fault that is causing harm”.
Flower essences make a contribution to our inner growth through their potential to eliminate limiting and/or damaging patterns of thought or behavior. For example, Bach’s Holly addresses feelings of jealousy, hostility and envy which keep us separate from others and prevent us interacting with trust. Taking Holly flower essence enhances our personal feeling of wholeness, inclusiveness and trust in our relationships with others.
These days there are dozens of flower essences ranges from around the world which address many and varied emotional and psychological patterns.
